Two diametrically opposed yet no less exciting gigs await this weekend. First off tomorrow night The Antlers make their Irish bow at a sold out Academy 2 show. Interesting to see just how the painfully morose theme and frequently beautiful ambient squalls of 'Hopsice' translate to the live arena.Also playing the Academy this weekend - but it's there the comparion ends - That Petrol Emotion begin a mini-tour of Ireland on Sunday night. Jesus Christ, 'Chemicrazy' is 20 years old next year yet still sounds just as fresh. No word on new material (a la Pavement), but if recent touring activity is anything to go by, 2010 will surely see Steve Mack et al back in the studio.
Two great gigs in prospect then but it's almost like having the hangover before the party even begins.
